TRUTHEAR BRINGS TO YOU THEIR ALL-NEW HYBRID PENTA DRIVER IEM - THE NOVA

Truthear, a relatively new player in the audio industry hailing from China, has gained recognition for their two well-received IEMs, the Truthear Zero and the recently launched Truthear Hexa. Building upon their positive momentum, they are now introducing a new addition to their lineup - the Nova. The Nova is a hybrid driver IEM featuring a combination of 1 dynamic driver (DD) and 4 balanced armature (BA) drivers, all seamlessly integrated with a 3-way crossover composite structure. The tuning of the Truthear Nova adheres to the Harman IE 2019 and the Harman OE 2013 standards, with a focus on achieving clear and natural sound. For added comfort and a snug fit, the shells were co-designed with HeyGears and crafted using cutting-edge DLP 3D printing technology. To complete the package, the Nova comes with multiple sets of eartips and a newly designed single crystal copper wire cable for a comprehensive listening experience.

HYBRID DRIVER CONFIGURATION WITH A 3-WAY CROSSOVER COMPOSITE STRUCTURE

The Truthear Nova is an in-ear monitor (IEM) that employs a 10mm specialised dynamic driver (1DD) for handling bass frequencies. This dynamic driver utilises a polyurethane suspension composite liquid crystal dome diaphragm and a dual-cavity internal magnetic circuit powered by an N52 magnet. In addition to the dynamic driver, the Nova incorporates a dual-balanced armature driver with larger dimensions, responsible for midrange and a portion of treble frequencies. This driver is carefully tuned to complement the specialised dynamic driver's frequency range. Furthermore, the Nova includes a custom composite double-balanced armature driver, akin to the SWFK series, focusing on delivering treble frequencies. This intricate combination extends the overall bandwidth.

METICULOUSLY TUNED TO DELIVER A HIGHLY ENGAGING AND NATURAL SOUND

The Truthear Nova has been tuned, following the Harman IE 2019 curve, albeit with a slightly reduced emphasis on bass. It closely aligns with the high-frequency amplitude response outlined in the Harman OE 2013 target, emphasising high HRTF characteristics. This approach yields a warm, gentle, clear, and natural sound, attributed to a brand-new system design that lowers the Q value. Additionally, the Nova employs a high-precision DLP-3D printing technology to create an acoustic waveguide structure with a filtering function. These elements enable the five drivers to perform optimally under distinct acoustic waveguides, bringing Nova's objective performance closer to the design goal established for the Hexa model. The Nova maintains consistent phase across the frequency spectrum, avoiding common connection issues that can occur in many multi-driver earphones, resulting in a natural sound with minimised phase distortion.

ERGONOMICALLY DESIGNED WITH A NEW GENERATION A DLP 3D PRINTED CAVITY

Truthear has partnered with HeyGears, a prominent name in 3D printing, to create the shells for the Nova. These shells are crafted using HeyGears' DLP 3D printing technology, utilising medical-grade high-transparency resin. This technology allows for intricate acoustic waveguide structures, maintaining precision and efficiency during the printing process. Simultaneously, it ensures the lightweight cavity is not only comfortable to wear but also made from skin-friendly and dependable materials. The Nova boasts an improved ergonomic design for a snug fit, coupled with a high-precision 3D printed texture panel featuring a sandwich-like structure, comprising a front cavity, a smoothly curved cover, and the addition of a few drops of glue to seal the seams. This design results in an aesthetically pleasing faceplate while promising a robust and reliable structure.

COMES BUNDLED WITH MULTIPLE SETS OF EAR TIPS AND A HIGH-QUALITY CABLE

In addition to the traditional slim ear tips, the Truthear Nova includes short double-flange and long double-flange ear tips, as well as foam ear tips equipped with multiple limiters. The use of double-flange ear tips effectively shifts the resonance peak of high frequencies backwards, resulting in exceptionally clear and clean treble. This adjustment helps negate any effects caused by the resonance peak, delivering a distinct listening experience akin to the classic ER4 single-balanced armature driver but with Nova's high-frequency performance. Nova is furnished with a versatile 0.78 2Pin interface and ear hooks for length and angle correction. It features a newly designed single-crystal copper wire with a robust wire skin material, offering excellent sound quality and user convenience. Moreover, this design allows for endless possibilities by enabling cable customisation and offering various cable options.

The closest to harman target you'll ever get!

I have been eyeing for this iem since its release due to the graph. Just like the other review from 'Abhishek', I have been considering moondrop variations based the youtuber 'Sharur' recommendation. But I was hesitant because its 50k and there have been know unit to unit differences.
Then came truthear nova, which was priced reasonably and truthear quality control was better than moondrop. Since, I like harman target, due to its lack of mud, this iem was a dream come true. So, I bought it immediately as it available.
The packing was great and unboxing the iem was a treat. The various types of eartips provided is a welcome trend. The provided pouch was of great quality. The iem cable is professional grade and doesn't not tangle.
The iem itself is chonky boi. Might be a little uncomfortable at first but it stays there once inserted into your ear. The ring on the cable could be used to hold the iem position firmly.
The sound is just amazing. FYI, I use the foam eartips, so the noise isolation is good. Since the iem already already follows harman target, I can use this with iphone without eq. The bass is tight and well separated from mids and treble. Female vocals sound crystal clear. So Kpop and Jpop sound amazing. Just not having the mud gives this iem an A+ for me. Also, the separations of different frequencies based on the drivers, allows you to hear sounds that are often missed. It feels like I'm at the location of the recording.
So, don't think much about buying this. Best price to performance product. Sound and build quality is top notch. This might be my end for iem.

Thanks a lot for your detailed and genuine feedback, we're glad that you have such positive thoughts about the product and we'll share your thoughts with the brand as well. It'll also help our fellow customers to make the right choice!

Fantastic IEM marred by Harman Target

First things first. Thank you hpzone for bringing this iem to the indian market. Much appreciated!

Pros:
1. Good extension in the low end. Bass has good rumble and speed.
2. Treble is fantastic. Highlight of this iem tbh. It's tuned quite well with no egregious peaks or dips.
3. Mids are clean with ample pinna gain. Female vocals are a treat on this iem.
3. Good imaging and resolution for the price.
4. Extremely EQ friendly, thanks to the clean bass and smooth treble tuning .

Cons:
1. Atrocious cable. Looks pretty but it's quite microphonic. And the pre-formed ear hooks have too narrow of a radius, making it uncomfortable for anything more than an hour of listen.
2. Harman tuned, so it has little to no mid-bass presence. This scoop in mid-bass to lower-mids region leads to bass that's got unsatisfying impact and thin midrange presence.
3. Again, harman pinna gain so the mids might be too shouty for some.
4. Soundstage width is average.

Looking at the long list of the cons, you might be wondering why did I even buy this iem. Well, I got it since the treble on this iem is beautifully tuned, and the frequency range preceding it needs minimal EQ to make it shine. If you don't like to EQ you iems and you don't like harman tuning then stay away from the Nova. But if you can EQ then this might be one of the best purchase in this price range.

Thanks a lot for your detailed and genuine feedback, we're glad that you have such positive thoughts about the product and we'll share your thoughts with the brand as well. It'll also help our fellow customers to make the right choice!

Perfect in every way! Beats sub 25k category planars !

To me these are one of the best purchases anyone can make at around 13k price point.

Also lets get a few things out of the way here, you need to watch these two videos to convince yourself :

A review where this was dubbed as a 'mixed bag' :
https://youtu.be/vuXLtqMEZvM?si=1LMkcFFoXeFs6DAM

The same reviewer calling these 'the best iems in the world' after using foam tips : https://youtu.be/yqAMZGQ6_rM?si=jCxITAktmZY0xxK_

Now my impressions, with foam tips only :

- whoever tunes truthears is just a genius, these sound natural - how music should sound. And thats just perfect. This resolves all the frequencies perfectly. No sibilance guaranteed.
- soundstage is natural, you wear these and things seem to sound around you. And it sounds great too.
- imaging is certainly better than hexa, or the simgot's sub 20k. You would start noticing imaging with these 100%
- now the fidelity, i've had pla13s, timeless7hz, simgots, hexa etc. there are things that i am noticing over planars here. Reverb tails ending ! The punchy notch on a bassy kick drum ! Are you kidding me..for 13k'ish.

That alone is enough for me to just give this iem 5.5 out of 5 stars.

This iem resolves treble region, thats such a hard thing to do.

Truthear is here to stay for sure, i won't get into physical aspects etc - those are great. I buy iems for sound primarily and it overperforms here.

Just watch the 2 videos i provided AND GET YOURSELF THIS AMAZING IEM.

Thanks a lot for your detailed and genuine feedback, we're glad that you have such positive thoughts about the product and we'll share your thoughts with the brand as well. It'll also help our fellow customers to make the right choice!

Harman target as expected

My experience with Truthear Nova

This is just my 2nd IEM, 1st being Truthear's budget IEM Hola.

So I am no expert audiophile and I don't have much info/experience with other IEMs to compare. So whatever I write in this review basically compared Nova vs Hola.

I used both IEMs on my phone with VE Abigail dongle DAC.

1) Build quality and looks: compared to Hola, Nova definitely looks and feels much more premium and I just love the blue opalescent faceplate. Looks magnificent in bright light.

Cloth material cable is good too. Quite sturdy. Slightly more prone to tangles than Hola's cable.

Hola cable has mic whereas Nova cable has chin cinch. So something unique for both.

2) Fitting and isolation: Nova contours to shape of pinna very nicely and snugly sets inside conchal bowl.

Shell are made of resin plastic, so they're light enough and doesn't cause any fatigue even after 4-5 hours listening sessions.

Biggest gripe I had with Nova was its nozzle. I kept seeing many posts online where Nova's thick nozzle was troublesome for people.

But I had different issue. Thickness/girth wasn't issue for me, but length of nozzle was. Long nozzle + average to long tips meant insertion was too deep inside my ear canal and started poking which led to pain after 15-20 mins only.

I did extensive tip rolling and eventually found out that short length tips were best as it prevented too deep insertion.

Basically tips that are designed for TWS works quite good with Nova for my liking.

Only downside with short length tips was that nozzle sound port sits almost flush with silicone tip's end. But it made hardly any difference in usage.

3) Sound: Sound changed drastically on narrow bore tips vs wide bore tips.

I hated how Nova sounded on narrow bore tips. So I preferred wide bore tips only.

Narrow bore tips made sound so muddy and mid-bass heavy and reduced treble so much. Nova already has smoother treble, so any further decrease means treble is basically gone completely.

So wide bore tips were best balance in mu opinion and I love wide bore tips on my Nova.

Compared to Hola, Nova definitely has higher and tighter bass, better treble too. Definitely wider Soundstage compared to Hola.

I heard so many hidden instruments, backing vocals and such minute details on Nova that I had missed on Hola.

4) accessories: nice variety as there are double flange tips, foam tips, silicone tips given in box.

I personally disliked all 6 included tips as they felt too long and went deep inside canal causing pain.

But someone might have better fitting.

Good quality carrying pouch given that's a nice addition.

Overall... Satisfied and happy with my purchase but only after adding short length wide bore tips.

Thanks a lot for your detailed and genuine feedback, we're glad that you have such positive thoughts about the product and we'll share your thoughts with the brand as well. It'll also help our fellow customers to make the right choice!

Dame sounds great

I have not expected this level of sound quality. Nova comes with super premium quality and earphone feels very light and comfy . Some people feel that need more bass or vocal you can achieve that just by equalizer on your mobile .overall it sounds amazing very neutral
Thanks for headphone zone for suggeting this product
